The Erie SeaWolves will host the Binghamton Mets Monday-Wednesday. Here is a look at the probable starters for the three games.
Monday – Binghamton RH Erik Goeddel (5-6, 3.41 ERA in 2012) vs. Erie RH Victor Larez (4-1, 1.72 ERA in 2012)
Tuesday – Binghamton RH Rafael Montero (1-0, 1.59 in 2013) vs. Erie LH Kyle Lobstein (1-0, 5.40 ERA in 2013)
Wednesday – Binghamton RH Cory Mazzoni (0-0, 0.00 in 2013) vs. Erie RH Patrick Cooper (0-1, 13.50 in 2013)
Breakdown: Erik Goeddel (Binghamton) and Victor Larez (Erie) will make their 2013 debuts on Monday at 6:35 p.m. Both pitchers round out their respective team’s rotations. On Tuesday, Binghamton righty Rafael Montero will take on lefty Kyle Lobstein from Erie. Both staff aces were winners on Opening Day for their respective teams. Montero went 5 2/3 innings and allowed one run on two hits and struck out eight. Montero left with a 2-1 lead and the Mets’ bullpen hung on for the win. Lobstein allowed three runs in five innings and left with a 4-3 lead. Erie’s offense erupted for 10 runs to give Lobstein a 10-6 win. Cory Mazzoni followed Montero’s solid start with an impressive one of his own. Mazzoni went five innings on Friday with seven strikeouts and four hits allowed. He left the game down 1-0 after allowing an unearned run but the Mets rallied to bail him out and win 2-1. Patrick Cooper didn’t get bailed out by his offense in Erie’s 4-1 loss on Friday. Cooper allowed three runs in the first inning and only lasted two plus innings in the loss. He allowed eight hits and struck out the side in the first inning.
